"The primary purpose of this Club shall be to develop, promote and administer both a recreational and a competitive soccer program among all boys and girls from ages four through nineteen primarily in the communities of Paradise, Magalia, and Stirling City, without regard to their race, creed, gender, or ability."
Competitive soccer, also known as traveling soccer, Metro, or just "comp", has been a small part of the Paradise program for many years. Due to many factors, including geography which gives us very little field space, our focus on the recreational program, and the relatively small number of players in our program overall, competitive soccer on the ridge has always been coach-driven and has had limited success. After fielding four competitive teams in 2012, the club will have only two competitive teams in 2013.
As a member of the Butte Youth Soccer League, however, our players have access to the Chico Cal Soccer Club program, an entirely competitive program in Chico. Chico Cal forms teams in Under 9 through Under 19 in both boys and girls. Tryouts for the various age divisions are typically held in February and March of each year.
Beginning in 2014, although we will still consider applications for a competitive team on the ridge and will continue to support any currently formed competitive teams, the club will encourage competitive level players and coaches to partner in with Chico Cal, so that they have the best possible competitive experience.
