LEAGUE PHILOSOPHY, PROGRAM, AND POLICIES
The Paradise Ridge Youth Soccer Club (PRYSC) offers a fall recreational season and has over 500 youth, ages 4-19 participating. The Club offers recreational and competitive play for all levels of player although the primary focus is on the recreational player.
PRYSC's policy is to encourage the RECREATIONAL and PARTICIPATORY aspects of the game. We recognize there will always be competition in any activity in which a score is kept, however, PRYSC's first principle is that RECREATION and PARTICIPATION come first.
PRYSC strictly adheres to the CYSA policy that EVERYBODY CHILD IS GUARANTEED TO PLAY AT LEAST HALF THE GAME in recreational play. There are no tryouts and everyone who signs up, on time, makes the team. Coaches are pledged to this policy and the Board of Directors will enforce it. Most important of all, the League encourages a spirit of unpressured and congenial good sportsmanship among players, coaches and parents. An excellent guide for parents put together in England can be found at http://www.thefa.com/Respectguide, which is also available on the links page.
The Coaches Manual includes general information about the league in the form of questions most frequently asked, league rules, policies, procedures and our players' code of conduct.
Registration
We will begin accepting on-line registration for the Fall soccer season after April 1st. In-person registration dates will be May 16th and 19th, 2012, after which registration packets will be available at The Comeback Diner and PRPD. When completed, they should be left in the soccer box at The Comeback Diner or be mailed to PRYSC, P.O. Box 744, Paradise, CA 95969. Teams will be formed on or around July 1st and players will be assigned to teams on a random draw basis.
Due to the number of players and teams, NO SPECIAL REQUESTS WILL BE GRANTED UNLESS A PERSONAL APPEAL IS MADE TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS AT ITS JUNE MEETING.
Players will be contacted after July 29th with their team assignment. The Annual Jamboree will take place on August 18th and league play will begin August 25th. Under 6 games are played at the Paradise Elementary School, while Under 8 and Under 10 games are played at the Paradise Intermediate School.
TEAM ASSIGNMENTS: ALL PLAYERS ARE ASSIGNED BY RANDOM DRAW. Due to the size of the league, special requests for a specific team, coach, friends, or car pools will NOT be honored unless a personal appeal is made to the Board of Directors. This policy has been determined by the Board of Directors as the most efficient way to manage team placement of over 500 children participating in our program. The Board will hear any special requests at its June meeting. Conflicts due to practice times or location are never honored.
Teams are required to have at least one practice per week and not more than two per week. Practice times and location are determined by the Coach according to space availability.
PLAYERS WILL NOT BE TRANSFERRED TO ANOTHER TEAM DUE TO CONFLICT OVER PRACTICE TIMES OR LOCATION.
Coaches are NOT permitted to recruit players without league authorization. If a team is short players, the coach must call the league and request a player from the waiting list. The first child on the waiting list will go to the team that needs another player.
Due to insurance/liability concerns, under NO circumstances may an unregistered player participate in a game or practice. To ensure the safety of all our participants, violations of this policy will be treated swiftly and decisively.
PRACTICE: Teams are required to have at least one practice per week and not more than two per week. Practice times and location are determined by the Coach. Due to the size of our league, players WILL NOT be transferred to another team due to a conflict over practice times or location. Practice times and location are the decision of the coach and are scheduled according to the coach's availability and field availability.
REFUNDS: All refunds are assessed a $10.00 Administrative Fee. The Board has established the following schedule for refunds:
If requested prior to team formation (when CYSA fees are incurred), a full refund less the administrative fee ($10).
If requested after team formation, the refund will be reduced by league fees ($20), uniform cost ($20), and the administrative fee ($10).
Requests for refunds are not accepted after the start of the season. We are a volunteer-run organization and all approved refunds are processed as soon as possible.
FEES: Under 6: $70/player. Under 8-Under 10: $80/player. Under 12-Under 19: $90/player. In order to effectively assign teams, prepare schedules, and order uniforms, players registering after June 30th must pay a $20 late fee.
FUNDRAISER: The Club is exploring fundraising options for 2012, but we must raise money for field maintenance and for the new field complex, so fundraising will begin again in earnest in 2012.
DATES OF PLAY: The jamboree will take place on August 18th. League games will be played on Saturdays beginning August 25th and will continue through Saturday, November 3rd, 2012 (with November 10th and 17th reserved for rain make-up games). All games for the Under 6 through Under 10 divisions will be played at the Paradise Elementary & Intermediate School Complex.
UNIFORMS: The league provides every player with a full uniform, which consists of a jersey, shorts, and socks. Shin guards are mandatory during practice and games. Soccer shoes or turf shoes are acceptable. No metal or toe cleats allowed.
NO JEWELRY is allowed including pierced earrings. Participants will be required to remove earrings prior to participating in the game.

VOLUNTEERS: Paradise Ridge Youth Soccer is operated by a volunteer Board of Directors committed to providing a quality recreational soccer program to the youth of the Paradise Ridge.
Coaches
Teams are coached by parents. The league provides a CYSA coaches clinic prior to the beginning of the season and Board Members are available on game days to offer assistance when needed.
Referees
Paradise Ridge Youth Soccer is looking for youth and adults who want to become referees. Referees must be at least 14 years old to apply, attend a 12 hour referee class, and purchase the required uniform and accessories. Referees are paid according to the Board-approved schedule, which can be found from the Referee link on the right.
The referee training class for the fall season will be held in early August. Those interested in taking the class should contact Wayne Ward at 872-7650 (office) or via email at referees@paradisesoccer.org.
Board of Directors
The PRYSC is run by a volunteer Board of Directors consisting of between 10 to 15 parents and community members that meet to develop and promote the game of soccer for youth on the Ridge. We are mostly parents like yourself who are interested in contributing to their own child's development as well as that of other children in the community and we are ALWAYS in need of assistance. We generally meet on the third Thursdays of every month. Please contact Max Barteau at president@paradisesoccer.org if you have any questions about the Board or the program.
